I love zombie stuff. I have watched most of the zombie movies out there (Night of the Living Dead being my all time favorite), I have read books about zombies (I highly recommend The Zombie Survival Guide), and I love playing video games about zombies.
When I saw this game at the iTunes app store, I just had to give it a shot (pun intended)! There is a lite version available for those who like to try before you buy, like myself. And then there is the full blown version which is only $1.99 as of this post.
The controls are very comfortable and the game is a blast (there I go with the puns again). This game does not use the accelerometer, but makes excellent use of the touch screen. There are arrow keys on the bottom of the screen to move your dude left and right. To fire, simply tap the bottom of the screen between the two arrows.
You can duck into houses by walking up to the door and tapping it on the screen. The first time you go into a house, you collect money or ammo. The houses are then available as safe havens if you need to escape from the hordes of zombies.
The zombies will become more difficult to kill and different types of zombies will appear in the game as you progress. You will need to make sure you are armed to fight these guys off. You’ll have an option to purchase weapons or health when you complete the level. Things can be purchased using the money you collected from the houses. You also get some cash for killing zombies. If you ever need to change weapons, just click the ammo icon in the upper left side of the screen next to your health bar.
One handy tip I have is to walk around and kill as many zombies as you can in the lower levels to gain money quickly. This will allow you to purchase bigger weapons for the levels ahead. And don’t be afraid to duck into a house to hide or use it for cover while you change over to a more powerful weapon.
The nice thing about this game is the ability to resume play. If you ever get interrupted when killing zombies, you can rest easy knowing you can resume playing whenever you wish.
